The National Association of Toastmasters (NAT) was formed in 1955.  It now has a membership from all over the UK and was the first toastmasters’ organisation to set an entrance examination and to establish a rank structure, Associate – Member – Fellow. 

At each stage, members have to show that they have a good knowledge of every type of function they might be required to officiate at by way of a written examination and an appearance before a Court of Examiners.
